Question 2 of 2
2. Question
What is your cornerstone value?
Our values reflect what is important to us. They are a shorthand way of describing our motivations. Together with our beliefs, they are the causal factors that drive our decision-making.If these five words represent some of your values, consider which of those values represents your cornerstone value. In other words, which word most represents how you want to live? Consider the following when deciding which word represents you:- It’s not necessarily how you want people to perceive you; it’s how you want to represent yourself around other people
- It’s not as much about your role, such as your significant other, parent, role at work, etc.; consider what characteristics you want to live by when you are in one of those roles.
How does that value impact your life?
In this reflection question, ask yourself the following:
- Why do you believe this value is important to you?
- Recall a moment when you lived this value. What behaviors did you exhibit that support this value?
- How might you react if this value was not being honored by others? Describe your feeling, thoughts, and actions.
